So Saige and Elle were playing. Saige landed on the tile on the kitchen floor and split here chin. This happened on the 4th of July. So off to the ER we went.

San Francisco

Millissa had a chance to spend 4 days in San Francisco with 7 of her friends. (can't imagine what that was like) They staid at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel in Union Square located in downtown San Francisco. They spent their time site seeing, riding cable cars, seeing Wicked where something with sequins had to be worn, Alcatraz, fisherman's warf, the cable car museum, Chinatown, Coit tower and Haight and Ashbury.

Sick

For the past 3 weeks our house has been cough central. It started with Saige, moved to Elle, I got it, Millissa got it, moved back to Elle, Millissa has been to the doctors once, then the emergency room. I think we have the record on cough syrup bought in a 3 weeks period.

I bought 4 different kinds of cough meds and got carded, and had to sign a paper... I coughed a couple of times while purchasing them. The cashier gave me a look of "ya right, you're sick" move on.

On the bright side I learned how to wash whites! I'm talkin laundry. Millissa wouldn't let me move on to colors, I don't blame her. I did my laundry ever since I was 12 til I got married. But then Millissa took that job... almost 15 years later I got my shot again. I'm gonna let her do it...

We celebrated Elle's 12th birthday today. The young women in the ward came by and decorated out front door then had Elle answer it. We then went to her school for the Christmas chorus program. Here's some photos...

Soccer!

Our family loves soccer. There is nothing I'd rather do that watch my 2 girls play. This was Saiges first year playing, she had a great coach and a fun team. Even though most of the game was played in a circle, running around the field, it was fun to see her break-a-way with the ball on occasion.

Saige scored 2 goals this year... One for us and one for the other team! She was so excited after taking the ball the full length of the field she ran off straight to Elle - on the sideline - and screamed "I'm just like you!" She really looks up to Elle.

Elle has turned into a great ball handler. She's a great right striker. She know's where the ball should be and gets it there. She talks/yells to her teammates and tells them what to do and how to do it. She's NOT the shy girl when she's on the field. She scored 6 goals this season, 2 in one game. I love to watch how she changes as she gets focused on the field. She's planning on playing on a higher Utah County league team next season.

Thought I'd slap this photo up here... we played in the Amicus Open at Wasatch State Park in Midway. It rained, then sunshine, then rained, then sun, you get where I'm going.

We had a really fun time playing, shot a 64. Sean bombed a couple of drives that we very much needed. and Tyler sank two huge putts, one for an Eagle and the other a birdie. I got longest drive and nearly blew out my back... I think they say, "go big or go home?"

We had fun while finishing off the school year. Saige is done with preschool. She will enter the halls of the big-girl school, Meadow Elem. where Elle just finshed the 5th grade. She will return as a student council member and a 6th grader!

Millissa is down in Arizona on a girls trip (Mom, Angela, Carrie and Jen)
Elle has spent the week at Clear Creek. This was her first time being away from home for this long. This year has really done something to Elle. She has been exposed to many new things. All I can say is she's not the little girl you all new in the passed.

The Band

Well it started out just like any other gig... we woke up to some newly fallen snow. But that was not going to keep us from the night of all nights. We were informed that the Castle on the Hill had received more snow than the valley had. But still, nothing could keep us from our fans...

Before the gig we each made little pizzas (from Millissa's famous pizza recipe) and had some snacks. We set up out gear and tried out a few riffs, licks and did our sound check. We were pretty rusty, not playing together for some time. But, as soon as we worked through the rust it was like old times. We all meshed perfectly together like nuts and bolts, as though we had never been apart. Even Lance and his La bamba were dead on!

The night was filled with high kicks, hand motions and all together fun.

Thanks Natalie and Justin for the Venue, Melanie and Lance for being such good sports.
Video - sorry it's poor quality. Guess we should talk to our stage hands for that. Anyway thanks Morgan, Elle, Natilie and Millissa for the great views.

For all you metalheads out there. "The Band" is getting together and shed some new stuff. Saturday, April 4th "The Band" will be in Elk Ridge, Utah. This gig will only last one night. So put the kids in the play room and bring your cameras, Cause it's gonna be sick!

Witness hits from the most recent and mind blowing Guitar Hero - Metallica. We will also be playing hits from Areosmith, and various other classic rock titles. "The Band" would like to thank the good folks of Elk Ridge, and the Castle on the Hill. They have set up a great venue for this event. We will see you all there - and you know who YOU are...

We spent Valentines Day with the Hendersons, they live in Elk Ridge, they have one of best views of Utah county. Anyway, we spent the night eating and listening to all the kids play. We got the band together and rocked out with Guitar Hero and Rockband. I forgot our camera so Natalie captured us playing. I think all she really wanted was to catch Millissa singing... she did. We had a great night, thanks Natalie and Justin.

We had a great time up at the film festival, thanks to Buddy and Sam. They have been telling us we needed to go to at least one show... that's gone on for years. Well, this year they were working at the box office. (as they have in years past) They got Millissa tickets for her birthday. After the movie we spent the night walking the streets of Park City. There were no stars out, mostly people walking from party to party. It was a great experience, and we had a lot of fun.

7 Random Things

Millissa got tagged by Melanie. You will either read this and think, "Yup, that's Millissa" or "Wow, she's crazy" So, here goes...

1 - I don't finish my sentences. When deep in thought trying to get something out, the only words are.. You gotta... ya need ta... let m... it drives Garrit (me) crazy.

2 - I sleep in my bra. Not for the reasons you might think. In case of an emergency like, a burglar, intruder, or the house is on fire. If I have to run out of the house I want to be well supported.

3- I have an obsession with dishes and stemware. I have 4 separate sets of stemware, 12 pieces in each. And all we drink from is plastic Disney cups. Also there are Platters, Cake Stands, Bowls and Christmas Dishes. When in a store I always look at dishes.

4- I love to watch music videos. I always have. When I was growing up my friends always wanted me to play outside. But, I would rather stay in and watch Mtv. Garrit (me) thinks that if he makes fun of me and tells me they are dumb, I will stop watching them. Never gonna happen.

5- My favorite snack is Saltine Crackers and Milk. Step 1 - place entire cracker in mouth. Step 2 - take a big swig of milk. Mmmmmm... Even better when taking a bath.

6 - I have to shave my legs everyday. I can't stand to feel leg hair rubbing against my pants. It drives me crazy.

7 - Lawn Mower. When I was 16 I had a summer job. I would mow lawns for 6 people in our neighborhood. I carted the mower around in the trunk of my Jetta. I was really tan and in great shape.

My Trip To Pennsylvania

In September I had the chance to go to Pennsylvania with my mom for 7 days. My grandpa was from Butler and so that is were we started then we made our way to Hershey then on to Gettysburg then back to Pittsburgh. We were able to go with my moms cousins who's dads were all brothers so it was a great experience. Here are some pictures to tell about the trip. Thanks to Garrit for taking such good care of the girls. Thanks to my mom it was a once in a life time opportunity and I was glad I got to spend it with her. Thanks to all the other people that helped while I was gone it was very much appreciated.

It's been a litte while since the last post. We haven't been up to too much. Elle is deep into soccer, their team has only lost one game so far and it was only by 1 point. It's not about winning... but, ask the girls, they'll tell you different.

Saige is learning more and more in pre-school. All we hear about are ths kids in her class.

Well 5th grade and preschool is in full swing. Elle started in a new school this year, Meadow Elementary. I hear the principal is the best in Alpine School District. Saige is in the Little Scholars preschool this year. Both are glad this summer is over. I have never seen two girls so excited to go to school.

Elle has a great soccer team this year. Hope to get more photos this year since I am not coaching. She has several friends that are also in her class at school.

Alright here we go...

Been a little busy these last couple of weeks. The good times have been piling up, and so have the photos. So I guess this will be mostly photos. Some of when Ryan, Jen, Maddie and Mike were up for the 24th. Saige celebrated her birthday on the 24th as well. We spent time bowling, playing at Moms house. We had a great slip-n-slide set up.

I'll let the photos do the talking... and for those who like "singstar" the video game. You are in for a treat. I may get killed for posting this but it's worth it. I'll save that one for the last.

John Mayer

It's funny, you buy tickets 6 months in advanced to see someone you really like. Then when the day gets closer you forget that you have tickets. John Mayer was awesome! Different than Jonny Lang, but good different. The guy can play guitar, I know, Duh. I mean what else can you say... And his band was great. We had great seats. Not to close and not to far back. Tyler and Angela had seats on the lawn and we met up with them before the show.

Side note:
For all you concert goers. Have you ever been asked to sit down during the show? The people behind us asked us if we would "consider" sitting down... We had to laugh. No, really we did. My answer... No, I hadn't considered that. In fact, I have never considered that at a concert! We didn't let it affect the show.

The concert was great! And to the people that sat behind us. Sorry, by sitting down the entire time you missed a great concert.

Jonny Lang

There's one thing you need to know about Millissa, it's that Jonny Lang is one of her favorites. I'll admit, the guy is awesome! He has his own style of blues. From his amazing guitar talent to his vocals... If you don't know of him, check him out.

We saw that he was coming to the Red Butte Gardens, in Salt Lake. Millissa said she would do anything to see him in concert. We got to see him last year in Grand Junction, CO. with Carrie and Dustin at Rock Jam. Red Butte is a small venue so it was packed with fans.

It was a great concert in a great setting.

Slip & Slide

We spent the afternoon up at Dad's house. We BBQ'd some burgers and hot dogs and sat outside under the umbrella in the backyard, the sun was really hot today. Elle and Saige played in the pool and the slip & slide. Saige had a hard time making it down on her own so I helped her out.

I don't think I have ever taken a day off just to relaxed. I mean really, how many days do you take off to sit and relax? Seems that every time we get together with family on a day off/holiday we end up more tired than any of the busiest days at work.

We woke up 5:30am, ok the alarm went off then... We had places saved at the Parade in Provo. And, I just realized I have been going to this Parade for pretty much my entire life. All I can say is, the things we parents will do for our kids. (you that are parents understand)

After the parade we were off to the America Fork canyon, with all the other people in Utah. We found a nice quite place and set up shop. Dan cooked up a great meal hambugers, hot dogs, corn and some of Millissa's salads. We played and had a good time. I think we ended up taking half the dirt from the canyon back to the house.

We met up with Great Grandma and Grandma Johnson (Mom) we wanted a rematch of a little game of Hand and Foot... Mom and Millissa beat Great Grandma and I last week, Great Grandma was in one of her goofy moods, I think that's why we lost. So the rematch was on. Grandma stepped up tonight and we spanked them good.

We ended up getting home around 11:00. We met another one more of our neighbors who were really nice. Come to find out. He was one of my Mom's students at Manilla Elem. and the son of Elle's old Principal. So a long day and 2 dirt clawds later we called it a night.

Strawberry Days

It's that time again. Every year we (Karen, Orion, Millissa, Elle and Saige) go over to Strawberry Days in Pleasant Grove. We get our fill of the Carnival and every thing that goes along with it. Which are... The City of Fun Carnival (or as I call it the City of Death) a greasy hamburger and some strawberries and cream. We go on some rides, eat some food and call it a night.

Lehi Life

Ok, so it's been almost 2 1/2 weeks since we have moved in. How did we get so much junk? Millissa is working so hard on trying to get things put away. I got (my part) the garage all cleaned out... I guess it helped when that was your job growing up.

Saige and Elle try to play outside. It's sort of hard with new grass. They have been dumping water on it non stop to get some of the dead stuff back, it's like a swamp.

Lehi Life:
We are far enough away to enjoy the "residential" life. But not too far just in case we need something like Milk. I haven't seen a tractor driving down the road in some time and are a lot. Everyone here has some sort of "toy". By that I mean 4-wheelers and motorcycles. Millissa saw a guy walking in the super market with spurs on. It was business as usual for him. I guess that's the way they roll here in Lehi. Funny how 20 miles can change things.

Oh, and I don't know if you know this... Footloose was filmed here. Every time we pass Lehi Roller Mills we point that out.

Moving Day!

I thought I had more photos. I guess I am going to have to take more...

We sort of kept this to ourselves for about a month and a half. We wanted to make sure that things where going to really happen or not. To our luck and the hard work of Paul Carter (The Loan Guy) and Lynn Dahlberg (The Realtor) we made it happen.

(sorry in advance for my poor grammar, and long windedness)

The Story:
After selling our house last February (2007) we shacked up with Mom. We have had more than enough room living there, but it was not ours. Although it has been nice living here to interact with Gramma and Great Gramma. Millissa would go out looking with Lynn nearly twice a week to different homes from Provo to Lehi. They have some really good stories of some of the homes they saw.

Long story short... Tyler was working on some town homes in Lehi. His company, Trades Company did all the finish work in them, ok I need to brag a little. Tyler's crew does an amazing job. It's no wonder they are so busy. Anyway, he mentioned this to us and that we should go out and look at them to see what we thought. We had been to so many homes and not even considered a buying a town home. We walked in the model home and we where sold.

Everything moved quickly. We had 3 options May 6th, June 15th or August. We took the May 6th completion date. The date got moved a number of times due to construction and the cold weather. Everything was going smooth until we noticed they had put in the wrong cabinets. (Not Tyler's fault) That was the only hold up we had.

So now we come to "Moving Day." Natalie and Justin Henderson lent us a Truck and BIG trailer. It earned the name of "the big ass trailer." The truck was a Ford king cab about 25 feet long. The trailer was another 40 feet. This was NOT like driving my Honda Civic... I had a hard time adjusting to the "bigness" but got more comfortable with each mile.

Driving that thing through the storage unit was a nightmare. I clipped a security camera and had to drive over their lawn - which I got stuck in. Now there are some nice, deep tire marks in the grass.

It only took us about an hour to load up the trailer. I chickened out when it came down to backing that thing into our place. Not only can Tyler build great things with wood, he can also drive like a pro. He got the truck down a narrow road filled with construction workers, then got it back out.

Pioneers/Jazz Game

Elle had her pioneer trek today. They all dressed up as pioneers and pull their hand cart around until they ended up at one of the teacher's homes. There they made all kinds of things, even made their own butter.

Suite night! Our company held a suite night at the EnergySolutions Arena. It's Round 2 of the finals, Jazz vs. Lakers. Jazz won 104 - 99. We had a great time. Millissa got to put faces with the names I always talk about...

Another Season Done

Another season of soccer came to an end today. I think they had more fun playing in the rain watching their hair get wet and whipping it around their heads, than going after the ball. Then once they had a chance to kick the ball, it was so wet it slid off their feet.

It rained pretty hard for most of the day today. As I made my way down to the field I must have had 7 calls from parents asking if we were still going to play... of course we were still playing, a little rain never hurt anyone.

We won't talk about the score. After all, we don't keep score. right?

We passed out their medals and said our good-byes. This team was a great team. Too bad it takes them the entire season to get to know each other and play their correct positions. I really enjoyed seeing the high-fives and the smiles after someone made a good play.

13 Years... Already?

It's funny how little events can change you life forever.

14 years ago Millissa jumped out of the back set of a cramp little car. We were cruising Spanish Fork main street wasting time one Saturday night. Yes, cruising... The first words she said to me were, "Nice stereo" from that moment I knew she was the girl for me.

A week later she showed up at me house and asked me when I was going to take her out. The next day we went fishing, and hung out the rest of the day... we were stuck together from that day on.

After dating for awhile she asked me, "Where are we going with this?" I replied, "I dunna know?"

We were engaged on Jan 17, 1995. (For the record I did ask the most important question the "Will you...") On April 29th, 1995 we were married.

I'm glad she asked those few, but important questions that have changed my life forever.

Back to the beach to find more waves. The girls went shopping and the guys built this sweet sand castle. It took us like all day! The waves were not as good as there were on Monday, but we still had fun soaking in the salt water. I think all of us need another vacation to get over this one. You should see all the different kinds of sunburns we all have!

After picking up Carrie and Dustin at the airport this morning we were off to the beach. Ryan had a good idea. Wet suits. We stopped in at a little surf shop and picked some up. We looked like over-weight navy seals. The water was pretty cold so with the wet suites it was perfect! The Boogie-boards were already at the condo. So we boogie-boarded until we couldn't walk. The girls sat on the sand, and got burnt. they all got some pretty funky tan-lines.

After we all got cleaned up. We walked over to a local seafood joint called the Baja Bucket. We had lobster, crab, shrimp and carne asada. It was a Mexican/Seafood place. I think everyone went to bed no later than 9 pm. Some party animals we are...

San Diego - Getting There

When you were little, on vacation, did you ever think your parents knew where they were at all times?

I always thought my parents knew exactly where they were, always. On every highway, in every city, at every activity, always. Even when we drove down some pretty questionable streets in Chicago. Dad just said, "I know where we are."

I guess the trick is to not show you are lost, that you are in complete control and keep your cool. Well, I failed. (not to mention we had been up since 4am) Although my navigator, let's call her Millissa, did not. She kept telling me to calm down and relax. We landed in San Diego, rented a sweet minivan, drove back to the airport and picked up Mom, Tyler and Angela... yes, all by ourselves. Millissa said, "We did it!" we felt that we had really accomplished something this day.

Game #3

Soccer is a team sport. With that said let me tell you about our last game. I'll set it up for you so you can picture what we went through.

Cold, windy, lack of players and the best, the land fill about a mile away was ripe! We started the game with only 6 players (8 is a full field) Elle plays right forward. She knows her position and plays it very well. This is where the TEAM part comes into play. We were missing some of our key "team" players. It's hard to win a game with 2 good forwards, one defender (brittney, who is awesome!) and a very good goalie. Every time Elle and Emma would get the ball down in scoring range the other team would gang up on them, 6 on 2. They would struggle to keep the ball. It only took one mighty kick by a defender to not the wind out of their drive.

Every girl on our team that night (6) played the ENTIRE game. While the other team sub'd in fresh players every couple of plays. While covered in their blankets, our girls great parents cheered them on,

I could see in their cold little faces the frustration they were going through. Knowing if we had a full team playing they could have beaten this team easily.

In the end 4 - 0 was the damage. I had fun watching them play and their hustle was awesome. I am proud of these girls, they played their hearts out!

If you think it's just a game, you're wrong. It's a fun game!

We played the Green Growlers tonight. The Lightning Bolts were dead on. The final score, 5 to 1. And that one was a very lucky shot... Elle had a couple assists at goal. They are playing more as a team rather than a bunch of girls running around on the field chasing a soccer ball. I am proud of them.

Easter 2008

With Easter comes eggs, candy and most of all the DRESS. Saige had a hard time this Easter. She got her dress a month before the actual date. I guess there's this Easter taboo about the dress being worn before that Sunday. Oh no, you can't wear it until Easter. Not a day before. Not even try it on. In fact don't even look at it!

So for the past month we have had a grand time telling a little 3 year old that the dress could not be worn. Each day she would look at it and ask, "can I wear it?" there were always a couple of "please mommy, please?" Finally she got to wear it. She danced around the house like a princess. No doubt singing the entire time.

We painted eggs the night before at 10:30 (as usual) The girls put their hair up in curlers to make them that much cuter.

Collective Soul

Funny thing happened today. (flash back to February) We had been trying to go see Collective Soul out in Wendover at the end of the month. Tickets went on sale, long story short, the Peppermill has a lousy "buy online site" so we missed out on that concert. We were really bummed. They are one of my favorite bands to see live and not to mention I have ALL their albums. Just a great band all together.

(present day) My boss called me in and asked if I wanted to go see them play tonight. He had 2 extra tickets that he let us use! Novell brought them in to play for all their "geeks". (I hope that doesn't offend anyone) The concert was awesome! They played all their hits and more.

Gotta give props to the Gambles and the Dodsons for the tickets and a good time.

For the record I am a Mac guy 100%. But Novell knows how to rock!

Lambo and Johnny

We took some photos for a promotional poster featuring Johnny Miller and a Lamborghini. This car will be the prize for a hole-in-one. With that much pressure on the line, you are bound to shank it!

I'd tell you more about the car, but I know nothing about this type of car. What I do know, it's sweet!

1st Place for Originality!!!!

The fourth grade at Cherry Hill had their Utah County Fair. (I guess that's what you call it) More like a - find out as much information about the county you chose and make a display. Elle chose Wasatch County. She did a great job at her display. Mom helped out a little... ok, more like a lot. Give it up to all the Moms. But, Elle put everything together. I got to judge them on a number of things. I do have to say that Elle new her stuff when it came down to it.

Elle's school set a goal to read 750,000 minutes. They blew by their goal and ended up at 830,000 minutes. There Principal, Mrs. Hart told them that if they met the goal she would dye her hair pink and kiss a pig. And she did it in front of the entire school.

The Daily Herald came and took the photo of Elle reading with Ronnie Brewer to the ENTIRE school. If you know Elle was a HUGE deal for her. She said she did good and didn't miss a word.

Valentines Day

I have to tell all the loyal "Johnson Report" fans about my wife. I have the best wife in the whole world! Many of you have met her. Millissa is her name for those that don't know her. And there might be a photo or two here of her.

She gave me the BEST Valentines Day present today. If the thought is what counts, she hit it smack dab on the head. I have told her years there's a song that Led Zeppelin did called Thank You. Every time I play it or hear it, it reminds me of her. (I know, sort of cheesy)

She bought an old record (vinyl, for you generation Y's out there, heck that's old for me) from some guy back east off ebay. It's the album that contains this song, Thank You. She framed the album and with it was a card. Thanking me for varies things.

I love the words of my boss when he said "We all married up." This is very true. I certainly did marry up. So Millissa, I thank YOU for almost 14 years of happiness.

St. George - Day 2

SNOW! I have never seen it snow this bad in St. George. We showed up for the second round of the Two-Man Team tournament. The weather forecast called for a 40% chance of rain and I don't really know what that means? If it's already raining, wouldn't that 40 turn in to a 100% chance?

Anyway, it rained the entire time, we were soaked! The tournament rules officials suspended play after 10 holes. You didn't hear anyone in our foresome complaining. We had hail that would not stop. Later we headed over to Iggy's to watch the Super Bowl. the snow kept on coming down. by the time we got done there was at least 3 inches of snow. That wouldn't seem like a lot, but remember we are in St. George. We came down here to get out of that type of weather.

After have 4 people tell us we were crazy to try to return home tonight, and after contacting the Highway Patrol to see how the roads were. We decided that it would be best to stay the night and leave in the morning.

Elle's birthday is today. The BIG 10! And yes, I feel old. She had a great birthday party at Classic Skating. If you have ever been there in the passed (like up to 15 years ago), it's still the same. Right down to the funky lights and roller skates. Yes, the tan ones with orange laces. She invited 4 friends from school and went around in circles for 3 hours. Saige on the other hand skated for a while with both hands in the air. I couldn't wait for that boys choice skate so I could ask Millissa to skate with me...

First off I'd like to say that many of you think all we do at work is play golf. Wrong. We don't play as often as you would think. But this day went down in history for me as a first. I say first because I hope there is a second, third, etc... I broke 80! I have had a couple of 80's and some 82's, but this was a first. It's amazing how you can remember all your shots after having a low round. (and less tired)

And yes grandma, I counted EVERY shot...

I know what you are saying... Shouldn't these have been posted in the summer? We were looking through some old client photos for a project and we came across these. They are from the Mesquite Amateur that was held back in May. As winter is gets nearer everyday I like to remember those warm, well hot days.

Here's our little soccer star. She plays right forward and had 6 goals this year. The season's over until March of 08. They should have a great season in the spring.

Here we are at the game.

We went to the REAL Salt Lake vs LA Galaxy. No, Beckham is still hurt and he wasn't able to play. But, this was a record for attendance. 24,000 (give or take) we sat on the 14th row. Right in the action. At the end the score was 2 to 2. I very action packed exciting game. Millissa, Elle and I went.

Now on to Elle's Saturday game.

I guess the other team didn't like it when Elle scored. One of the girls elbowed her in the nose. After very few tears and some blood shed, she was back in playing.

Just what you want to wake up to... I don't think so.

As we woke Saturday morning Millissa told me "I think someone hit your car?" Sure enough someone had hit the poor, defenseless Honda Civic during the night. After Orem's finest stopped by and a little paper work was filled out. I went to the Honda Dealership and picked up some fasteners and patched up the old girl. She does have some bumps and white paint scratches, but she'll live. No note, no nothing...
